A WORD FROM THE FAIR CHAIR
Welcome to the 2020 Virtual Mt. Washington Church Fair! Corona virus has forced us to create a new way to keep our 87+ year Fair tradition alive. This annual event is the main fundraiser for the tiny 150-year-old Church of Christ in this small town. The Church donates the majority of the Fair’s proceeds to diverse local, national, and international charities, both secular and religious.
A real community effort, full- and part-time residents of different and no faiths work together for months to produce this old-fashioned country fair, a day of fun and celebration.
Some pre-Corona Fair features will be missing this year, like our super grill and gourmet salad bar; kids’ Costume Corner; and the Second-Hand Rose clothing shop. But good news! Many Fair favorites are still available right here: Artisanal items; Mountain Goods and Merchandise; pies and soups to order; fabulous White Elephants; and the Silent Auction. Our much-loved quilt raffle this year is a wall hanging, “Birds of the Mountain,” sewn by our talented resident stitchers. See this coveted prize and buy chances for it right here!
Besides the shopping and raffle opportunities, we have the Race to the Fair on July 25: our first-ever Virtual 5K – fun entertainment for you and the kids isolated at home. For $25. you can participate and receive a free race tee shirt. Registration closes July 15, so sign up now! Between the Race and Fair Day, August 1, we’ll have a new surprise feature each day on the website for your enjoyment.
Our site is completely secure and a breeze to use, so don’t miss out! Take a virtual stroll through the Fair today and place orders. Then join us live online on August 1, 10-11 a.m., for raffle drawings, auction results, and more. Have fun and support some worthy causes!
Please stay safe and well.
